February 18th, 2015 - Charles LaPlant Competes in DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia
aCharles LaPlant resumed competition on Monday night with the opening round of the 44th Annual DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida).

A talented field of forty-three UMP Super Late Models converged on the 1/2-mile oval, all chasing the $7,000 top prize. LaPlant failed to reach a transfer position via heat race action, sending him to a b-main. He raced his way to a sixth place finish in the b-main, but only the top three advanced to the 30-lap feature as his night would come to an early end.

Action resumed on Wednesday follow Tuesday night's rainout. The winner's check increased to $10,000 as forty-eight entries registered for battle. A strong qualifying effort positioned Charles starting fourth in his heat race. He secured the final transfer spot with a third place finish, earning him the thirteenth starting position on the feature grid. During the course of the 40-lap main event, LaPlant settled to a 20th place finish in the final rundown.

Forty-three entries registered for the $7,000-to-win program, which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). Unfortunately, Charles struggled to find the setup on his LaPlant Transport #3c MRM Ag Service/Bob Pierce/Pro Power Racing Super Late Model and he would fail to qualify for the 35-lap finale.

Thursday night's LOLMDS program at "The Clay by the Bay" also boosted a $7,000 top prize, and a stout field of forty-four Super Late Models filled the pit area for the event. LaPlant would continue to battle the handle on his entry and fall short of a transfer position into the evening's 45-lap main event.
