February 19th, 2016 - Charles LaPlant Begins 2016 Season at Volusia Speedway Park
1Kicking off the 2016 season, Charles LaPlant made the trek to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) on Monday for the opening night 45th Annual UMP DIRTcar Nationals. Drawing forty-four Super Late Models, Charles recorded a 10th place outing in his heat sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the feature. Transferring the top three into the $7,000-to-win main event, LaPlant logged a 12th place spot in his consolation event.

After recording the 8th fastest time in his qualifying group, Charles LaPlant needed a 3rd place finish or better in his heat to make the feature. Logging a 7th place outing, LaPlant transferred into the B-Main for another shot at the main event. Deciding to save equipment for the rest of the week, Charles failed to make it out for his consolation event.

Returning on Wednesday for the final night of the 45th Annual UMP DIRTcar Nationals, LaPlant earned a 4th place starting spot for his heat after posting the 7th fastest qualifying time in his group. Failing to make it out for his heat race, Charles transferred into the B-Main. Needing a 2nd place finish or better, Charles LaPlant fell back to a 9th place outing.

1Beginning the first night of World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series (WoO) action, Charles logged an 8th place finish in his heat on Thursday sending him into the Last-Chance Showdown. Transferring the top two into the $10,000-to-win A-Main, LaPlant retired a 9th place outing.

On Friday night in a field of fifty-three Super Late Models, Charles earned a 7th place starting spot for his heat based off his qualifying time. Failing to hit a transfer spot after running into issues in his heat, LaPlant was sent into the B-Main. Battling for a 2nd place finish or better, Charles LaPlant logged a 9th place finish.

Wrapping up the 45th Annual DIRTcar Nationals, Charles needed a 2nd place finish or better from his 5th place starting spot in his heat. Failing to make the feature with a 7th place exit, LaPlant had one more chance with a B-Main appearance. Needing a 2nd place finish or better, Charles LaPlant retired a 7th place outing.
